A new hot sandwich concept from a local sandwich enthusiast is soon coming to the Gladstone Park area.
Michael Barboza recently announced his new restaurant Cured & Crafted is opening at 5686 N Milwaukee Avenue by the end of the month. This will have artisan sandwiches catered to lunches. Barboza told What Now Chicago he is hoping to have a soft open followed by a grand opening on a Wednesday.
For the menu, Barboza is using proteins sourced from Slagel Family Farms such as house-prepared mojo roast and tender soy-marinated flat iron steak. There will also be vegetarian and vegan options, salads and french fries. Stretching beyond the typical ham and cheese sandwich, he is also bringing a variety of dipping sauces.
“The concept is really based around that love,” Barboza said.
Barboza has worked at restaurants in the past both in the back and front of the house. For the last decade, however, he has been working in education and wanted to get back to the culinary scene.
Searching around different cities in the area, Barboza came across the N Milwaukee Avenue space and knew it would be a great fit. Recently, Cured & Crafted posted that their sign is now up. It is in the same plaza as Thai Pot Noodles Shop.
