A brand new restaurant called Southern Kitchen is making its way to Arlington Heights, located at 818 E Kensington Rd.

The new 5,000-square-foot restaurant will move into the Arlington Market shopping center at the former home of Eros Restaurant, which closed nearly four years ago after 35 years of business. Owners Steve Fotos, Frank Georgacopoulos, and Arry Marinakos plan to fill the space with a brand new restaurant that will focus on breakfast and brunch, with no plans to offer dinner service as of yet. Marinakos tells What Now Chicago he hopes they can open the new restaurant around mid-June, hopefully in time for Father’s Day.

The pandemic delayed their plans for over two years in bringing their Southern breakfast flare to Arlington Heights. Now, they are ready to roll with a liquor license granted to them by the village board, allowing them to serve their tasty mimosas and bloody Mary’s. As for the culinary side, guests can expect everything from breakfast classics such as omelettes, pancakes, and skillets, as well as signature specialties, including biscuits & gravy, shrimp and grits, and gumbo-laya.

The restaurateurs have successfully owned and operated a handful of brunch eateries throughout Chicagoland, including Southern Belle’s Pancake House and Juicy-O, as well as a banquet hall. Together they will bring a much-needed dining experience to an area with more schools than restaurants.

  • Went there after Father’s Day and it’s still closed. Looks like they stopped working on the inside. Probably broke already. Was a nice thought anyway.
