A new eight-seat restaurant from Boka Restaurant Group is coming to the Chicago Athletic Association hotel.
In a recent article from Eater Chicago, it was reported Midosuji is opening in the space formerly used by Milk Room at 12 S Michigan Avenue. This is part of Chicago Athletic Association, a hotel with a collection of restaurants and bars including Cindy’s Rooftop, Cherry Circle Room and more. According to the article, the restaurant group is aiming to open the space in late summer or early fall.
The project is headed by chef Brian Lockwood, a Colorado-based chef who has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants around the world and was the consulting chef for the Chicago-based TV show The Bear. What Now Chicago previously reported on Lockwood starting Gingie, an American restaurant that will be opening this fall at 701 N Wells Street.
Boka Restaurant Group now manages hospitality services at the Chicago Athletic Association. This former Milk Room space they are acquiring had the vibe of a 1930s speakeasy, and this will be preserved while embracing Japanese themes for the new restaurant.
The menu has not been released, but guests can expect dishes with Japanese ingredients like sansho pepper duck and crab salad with daikon and egg yolk, with a menu that will change over time. Drinks served will be wines, cocktails, Japanese spirits and sakes.
According to OpenTable, the restaurant is not yet available for booking. Midosuji will be serving eight guests each night with two seatings offered. More information on booking will be available soon.
