A new sports-themed bar may be coming to Homan Square

The listed applicant Walter Urgiles recently put in for a liquor license at 3332 W Roosevelt Road in Homan Square under the name Only Sports Bar & Grill. Right now, this is a vacant lot near the corner of S Homan Avenue. Urgiles is the owner of Only Sports Center, an apparel store operating inside Chicago Sports Inc. at 4034 W North Avenue.

When speaking with Urgiles on the phone, he said the building is going to be under construction “soon.” As the space is listed as a bar and grill, it is likely to also serve food. No menu has been released.

At Urgiles’ apparel store, he sells many different uniforms of soccer teams from around the world. He is leaning towards a soccer theme for the new space.

Homan Square is on the west side of the city near Douglass Park. Other restaurants near the proposed bar are Star Gyros, The Beelove Cafe, Dave’s Red Hots and Taco Bell.

The license applied for was “consumption on-premises,” which is required for businesses wanting to serve alcohol along with other activities. It will be on the first floor of the building. There are no more updates as of now.

What Now Chicago may update this article as the owner will send more news in the future.
