A brand new restaurant called Palooza Pizza is looking to make its debut in Schaumburg, located at 1820 W. Irving Park Rd.

Palooza Pizza will move into the former home of the award-winning Firehouse Dogs, which closed almost a year and a half ago after a rent dispute, according to the Daily Herald. The new 2,865-square-foot restaurant is expected to open in Spring 2023, with owner Gamal Badier hoping to obtain a special-use permit from the Schaumburg village board next Tuesday. The village’s zoning board of appeals unanimously recommended approval of the permit last week.

If approved, customers can expect a brand-new restaurant offering plenty of different entree options. The proposed menu includes pizza, calzones, meat stromboli, Philly cheesesteaks, falafel, gyro sandwiches, beef kufta kebabs, beef and chicken shawarma, hummus, soups, and salads. Badier says rent will not be an issue for the simple fact that he bought the property. This will not be the first restaurant for the experienced businessman, who has also been associated with Ali Baba Pizza in Hanover Park and Pizza & Gyro Spot in Villa Park.

While this is exciting news for Palooza Pizza, fans of Firehouse Dogs are still scratching their heads for a return. Five years after Travel + Leisure Magazine named the restaurant home of the best hot dog in Illinois. After disagreeing with the landlord over the rent, the owners decided to search for a new home, possibly in Hanover Park. Unfortunately, the hot dog restaurant hasn’t resurfaced yet.
