An upscale Italian restaurant is coming to the North Side neighborhood soon.
Representatives of Piacere Mio recently submitted a liquor license application for 1303 W Wilson Avenue. This will be the second Illinois location for the Italian restaurant. Israel Hernandez, one of the owners, told What Now Chicago the restaurant is over a month out from opening.
The restaurant was first opened in South Park, San Diego by Francisco Perez and Chef Jose Marquez. Now, the company has a second location in San Diego, along with Forest Park at 7636 Madison Street, which had its two-year anniversary in February. Piacere Mio’s team has remained relatively quiet about opening a fourth location.
The Italian eatery is known for pastas with thick noodles like bigoli al pomodoro, fettuccine and linguini. Entrees like braised wagyu short beef ribs and chicken breast are also offered. Hernandez said the menu for Uptown will be almost the same.
This is the former Floreen’s Chicken & Roost location, which was open for a short time in 2023. Since then, the space has been vacant. Near the corner of Malden Street, the restaurant will be across the street from Uptown Taproom. It is also a short walk from the Wilson Red and Purple Line station.
Piacere Mio has not released an official statement on the new restaurant. For more updates, visit their website piaceremiorestaurant.com.
