Popular brunch spot Pochos is relocating to a new location in Pilsen, located at 1727 W. 18th St.
The beloved weekend eatery will move into the former home of Intersect Coffee, right next to a Carnitas Uruapan. This will be an excellent opportunity for co-owners Irene Acosta and Miguel Hernandez, who originally opened the restaurant at 2025 W. 35th St. in 2019. The duo plans to not only use this as an opportunity to expand the brand beyond McKinley Park, but they hope to add to its already impressive menu, which showcases Mexican American classics such as chilaquiles and pancakes.
The duo of owners was forced to leave their original location after two years after their lease ended. After struggling to find a way to stay in the neighborhood, they decide to move a few miles northeast to an always-busy street full of other eateries. Thankfully for the owners, the area features very few brunch-focused restaurants. Acosta and Hernandez tell Block Club Chicago they hope to open in two to three months, but they do not yet have a specific date.
“The outcry of love and support that we got when announcing our departure was just kind of … man, it really helped us get over that sadness and that madness and allowed us to focus on putting our energy into making this new location everything that it should be,” Acosta tells the publication. “They’re already welcoming us into this neighborhood.”
