New Orleans’ Popeyes Louisiana Chicken is looking to open another location near the Elk Grove Town Center.

The proposed restaurant will have a drive-through and be situated just south of the existing 7-Eleven gas station at Arlington Heights and Biesterfield Roads. The new proposed restaurant will be owned by Dhanani Group, which franchises Popeyes and Burger King restaurants across the country. The location was initially supposed to be an Arby’s location, but that proposal fell through. If approved, this will become the 20th location in Chicagoland, with a vast majority near the city.

The announcement comes on the heels of a recent company announcement to introduce a new chicken sandwich. For the past 50 years, Popeyes has become a leader in the national chicken sandwich wars, focusing on its crispy chicken sandwich. Now, the company is introducing a new buffalo ranch sandwich. Hopefully customers in Elk Grove Town Center will have the chance to experience this new sandwich by the time this new restaurant opens, which is unknown at this point.

“Two years ago, our chicken sandwich reintroduced the world to our chicken mastery, and we have not stopped innovating since,” Sami Siddiqui, the president of Popeyes North America, said in a statement. “We have a lot of fun experimenting with new flavors in our test kitchen, and this buffalo ranch chicken sandwich is one I’m especially excited to bring to our guests.”

  • Please stop preparing shrimp – stick to chicken only – .the popcorn shrimp is barely there, not recognizable at all – no taste and has the consistency of a hardened pencil eraser. – hard and rubbery and dried up..There is no taste whatsoever. The owner would not touch it, I can assure you. He should be the test dummy and decide for himself what he would take pride in serving. It is terrible beyon description. Wasted $10 – only got fried breading.
