A restaurant chain known for many wines is stepping foot into Illinois in the near future.
It is being reported Postino WineCafe is expanding to the Chicago suburbs at 887 N Milwaukee Avenue, Unit 400 in Vernon Hills. This is the former City Barbecue location. An opening date has not yet been announced as construction is still being planned out.
The project was recently approved, and it will be at the corner of Hawthorn Row and Milwaukee Avenue, at the same building as Taqueria Invicto and Cafe Zupas. This is a high-traffic location as it is across from Hawthorn Mall. This will be the first current Illinois location, but there is also one listed online at 2535 Waukegan Road in Bannockburn, which is closed.
Postino WineCafe’s menu is designed to accompany wines, with bruschetta boards, and snacks like crispy cauliflower and shrimp scampi. Paninis are also popular items along with their lemon butter chicken. The company serves a large variety of wines, with both national and international flavors from countries like Italy, New Zealand and Portugal.
As of now, Postino has 30 locations across the U.S. in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. Like other locations, the Vernon Hills restaurant will feature outdoor seating.
What Now Chicago has reached out to Postino WineCafe co-owner Lauren Bailey and is awaiting comment.
