A new bar themed to sports is coming to the historic neighborhood.
It was reported by Block Club Chicago that Pressbox is coming to 47 W Polk Street in Printer’s Row. The bar will serve both drinks and sports bar items like burgers. Co-owner LaKeisha Stephens told What Now Chicago the space is set to open in early spring.
Pressbox is a project from locals Stephens and Erika Menefee, who was a judicial candidate for the Cook County Court. The two have been working on the project for a couple months as they wanted to bring a sports bar option to the city. They have not released the menu, but gastropub items, as well as beers on tap, are to be expected.
“Bringing new energy to Printer’s Row,” says the description on their Instagram page.
The address is the former Bar Louie which closed in March. It followed the company scaling back multiple locations throughout the U.S. There is currently one downtown location, as well as a restaurant on Cumberland Avenue and one in Skokie.
The space is attached to the historic Dearborn Station. On the first floor of the building is the Jazz Showcase music venue. This historic neighborhood features many bars and restaurants along W Polk Street, including Reserv and Half Sour American kitchen.
There have been no posts from the bar on their social media pages yet, but more information will soon be available on their Instagram.
