Raising Cane’s continues its suburban expansion with a brand new restaurant coming to Rolling Meadows, located at 1420 Golf Rd.

The new location will move into the former home of Buona Beef, which closed down during the pandemic. Now, the quick-service national chain is planning to demolish the building and construct a new 3,077-square-foot structure closer to the Golf Road property line, according to The Daily Herald. This will give the business more room for dual drive-through lanes that enters and exits from the north of the one-acre site. The new corporate-owned restaurant will start construction in August, with a completion date expected for January 2023.

The company, which now has more than 600 locations nationwide, including more than 20 throughout Chicagoland and more on the way, designed the drive-through to not disrupt the surrounding businesses or traffic flow. For those who want to eat inside the restaurant, plans include a remodeled parking lot with 26 parking spaces, some paved with permeable brick pavers. After a unanimous first reading vote earlier this week, the company must wait for final approval, scheduled for July 12. If everything is approved, Raising Cane’s plans to hire 55 employees for the new store.

“The petitioner’s business does include some on-site seating, but the majority relies on drive-through business, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic changed the way people utilize restaurants,” city staff wrote in a report about the proposed redevelopment.
