A new fast-casual option for Indian cuisine is coming to the Sterling Food Hall this September.
The food hall recently announced that two new concepts are coming to the space at 125 S Clark Street, including Pizza Dada which has already opened and Saffron Street, set to open the first week of September. Saffron Street already has a space in West Loop, and this will be the restaurant’s second location.
Owner and chef Najeeb Mohammed has been working hard to bring more authentic Indian cuisine to the food hall. He attended the Le Cordon Bleu culinary institute in Paris and also has experience cooking in India. His restaurant at The Old Post Office building, 433 W Van Buren Street, has been open for about two years.
The menu for the new Sterling Food Hall restaurant will be very similar to their Van Buren Street location. It will feature bowls, sandwiches and salads with flavors of Indian street food. One of the specialty sandwiches that is being served includes the Grand Paneer Paratha with lettuce mix, cilantro yogurt, pickled Fresno chiles, kachumber and pickled onions.
Mohammed said there are also plans to acquire new locations in Naperville and Schaumburg. He and his team are early in the process in getting the new restaurants, but he been seeking expansion to the suburbs for some time.
