The deli located inside the famous Ohio House Motel is bringing a larger, vibrant location to Lincoln Park.
Schneider Deli announced their second deli is opening at 1733 N Halsted Street in early 2026. The new location will also feature a full coffee and espresso program. Co-owner Jake Schneider told What Now Chicago there is not yet an exact date of opening.
“Our new Lincoln Park location gives us the chance to bring that same energy to a bigger space with more seats, more sandwiches, and more of what makes deli culture so special,” Schneider said in a press release.
The 1,750-square-foot space will be twice as large as the current Ohio House Motel location, 600 N La Salle Drive. At the deli, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, deli sammies, soups and salads are offered. Handhelds are customizable, with options of lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese sauerkraut and beef or bacon.
For the new spot, their house-cured fish and sliced meats will be served, as well as bubbe-approved latkes, Kugel and soups. The deli is teaming up with Metropolis Coffee, a Chicago-based coffee chain. Inside, it will be a casual space that allows for private events.
Jake and his wife, Ariel have much experience in the culinary industry, as Jake worked in Michelin green starred restaurants like Daisies, L20 and RPM Italian. He has carried his family recipes from his grandparents to Schneider Deli, and he plans on delivering the same flavors for the new location.
