Owners of a cafe themed to the fall and pumpkins are expanding their brand to a north side neighborhood next year.
October Cafe will be opening at 5961 N Elston following the success of their 6046 N Avondale Avenue location. This is a year-round coffee shop that opened in Avondale two years ago. Co-owner Michelle Gonzalez told What Now Chicago she and wife Audrey Borden are hoping to open their new cafe around the end of January or beginning of February.
Since opening, staff have served coffees like lattes, cold brews and espressos, as well as teas and frappes. Their food menu features a breakfast sandwich, PB&J, pumpkin toast and other sandwiches. Gonzalez said the new location will have more vegan menu options.
“It is a sit-down feel,” Gonzalez said.
Owners Audrey and Michelle were married in October, and they were inspired to name the cafe after the month and create a space that “celebrates the warmth and magic of fall,” from a description on their website.
The space is on the north side of Jefferson Park, close to Hello Reusa-Wraps. It was previously Smak-Tak Restaurant, a Polish establishment. The inside is now being set up to prepare for the opening.
