For fans of Aurora’s Spartan House, this holiday season brings the cheerful news of an expansion. Owners Michael Poulakidas and Ron Woerman will open a sister concept in Naperville off of Route 59 dubbed Spartan Ale House.
Aurora’s Spartan House, a restaurant, bar, and grill, is actually the second eatery from the Poulakidas family, which opened O’Malley’s Pub & Eatery (originally named John’s Beef & Beer) in 1974. Poulakidas, the second-generation owner, and Woerman opened Spartan House around 5 years ago; it’s become known for its stellar food, atmosphere, and service.
The elevated Spartan Ale House promises to bring “sports bars to the next level,” and if the offerings are anything like the original, you can expect to find bites like deep fried pickles, Spartan House nachos, and Bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers. From chicken wings, salads and wraps, and pizza to sandwiches, burgers, and build-your-own mac & cheese, the Spartan spread is something you won’t want to miss out on.
You can expect to find “down-home recipes” made with locally-sourced ingredients and a drink menu of craft beer, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages to suit the whole family. In addition to lunch, dinner, and a kid’s menu, Spartan House serves breakfast Saturdays and Sundays from 9AM to 1PM.
We reached out to Poulakidas for comment but did not hear back at the time of publication, so Spartan Ale House’s opening timeline currently remains unclear. According to Google, the eatery will open at 3032 English Rows Avenue.
