According to a recent article from Southport Corridor Chicago, Sweetgreen will be expanding with another location, located at 3601 N Southport Ave.

A representative of Sweetgreen was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now Chicago’s request.

While an official opening date has yet to be confirmed, Sweetgreen’s mission is to empower customers, team members, and partners to be positive change-makers within the food system.

At the heart of Sweetgreen’s philosophy is the belief in transparency, which is why they have dedicated themselves to building a supply network that’s as clear as the ingredients they use. Cooking from scratch is not just a preference; it’s a pledge to uphold quality and integrity in every meal they serve. Beyond the kitchen, Sweetgreen is said to have cultivated a thriving community that shares a collective belief in the transformative power of real food.

Sweetgreen’s journey began when its founders recognized a glaring dichotomy in the world of food. The options were starkly divided between meals that were slow, expensive, and fresh, or fast, cheap, and unhealthy. In this chasm, they discerned an opportunity to create a business where convenience never meant compromising quality. Two months after graduating, on August 1, 2007, Sweetgreen opened its first restaurant in Washington DC.

In a world where the effects of climate change loom large, particularly for farmers, the need for regenerative food systems is more pressing than ever. That’s why Sweetgreen has made a bold pledge to become carbon neutral by the end of 2027. Their plant-forward menu already boasts a carbon footprint that’s on average 30% lower than the typical American meal, making strides toward a more sustainable food future.

Acknowledging the importance of animal welfare, Sweetgreen adheres to rigorous standards that prioritize the well-being of farm animals. The company is deeply committed to the Better Chicken Commitment, according to the company website.
