A Wauconda-based hospitality company has plans for a historic building in the village.

From The Daily Herald, The Grand Social House & Tavern is opening at 110 S Main Street in the village. This is the former Middleton’s on Main, a historic downtown restaurant, and an early 2026 opening date is anticipated.

The project comes from GM Hospitality Partners, and it is set to be a laid back space to watch sports or visit friends and family. Food served will include Italian dishes and shareable items. The bar inside will serve beer and cocktails, to be expected from a tavern.

Locals of Wauconda, Greg and Alexandra Walsh, are opening the restaurant. The team has been eying the space in downtown Wauconda as it is an area with a lot of foot traffic. Inside, it will feature a full-service dining room and private event space.

“By reopening the doors to this landmark at the heart of our downtown, we hope to inspire others to fill our empty storefronts and join in revitalizing our community,” said partner Brittany Barth in a press release.

The building is at the corner of S Main Street and Murphy Street, across from Honey Hill Coffee Company. It is also close to Wauconda Farmers’ Market. Construction is currently underway.
