An upscale market and café aiming to make a comeback in Chicago a year after closing all stores has proposed a location in Lincoln Park.

Foxtrot is planned for a space at 935 W Webster Avenue, according to a liquor license application. This is a new site for Foxtrot, although it isn’t far from their previous store in the neighborhood at 900 W Armitage Avenue. It is located at the corner with N Bissell Street, across from Homeslice Pizza + Patio.

Mike LaVitola and Taylor Bloom founded Foxtrot in 2013 as a delivery app, opening the first brick-and-mortar store in 2015. The company announced plans to merge with Dom’s Kitchen & Market under a new entity called Outfox Hospitality in 2023. Foxtrot abruptly closed all 33 of its stores, including 15 in the Chicago area, in April 2024; two Dom’s stores closed as well.

“We explored many avenues to continue the business but found no viable option despite good faith and exhaustive efforts,” the company said in a statement at the time.

Now, the boutique grocer and café is planning a comeback. It was announced last summer that Foxtrot was planning to reopen several of its former stores throughout the Chicago area: Wicker Park, Fulton Market, Old Town and Gold Coast. Six locations are now open in Chicago, and two are open in Dallas.

Foxtrot features an array of produce, meats, craft beer and wine, and other grocery items, as well as a full-service café. In addition to coffee, the café serves savory breakfast and lunch items and sweet treats like cookies.

The upcoming location on Webster Avenue is expected to open in late spring or early summer, Block Club Chicago reports.
