Two sisters are opening a fashion store with curated outfits and merchandise to wear on the streets of Chicago.
Maddie and Elizabeth Poirrier have been advertising their new shop The Pear House coming to 1520 N Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park. Of the many items sold there will be shirts, dresses, sunglasses, tote bags and shoes. A “coming soon” sign is now in front of the business.
In an Instagram post this summer, the sisters explain that growing up they shared clothes and planned outfits together. They aim to bring their love of fashion to the neighborhood this year.
“That’s the spirit we’re bringing to The Pear House: a warm, inclusive space in Chicago rooted in family, joy and community,” said the description. The name comes from their last name Poirrier, which translates to “pear tree” in French.
Maddie and Elizabeth look to be making progress on the space as equipment is being moved around inside. The business is along the busy stretch of N Milwaukee Avenue near the neighborhood’s center. Right next door is a Carhartt location, as well as Nick’s Beer Garden.
The duo has been traveling to cities like New York and Paris for fashion inspiration. Their outfits sold will have matching colors, with different sunglasses and shoes to compliment them. A website showcasing their products is expected to be released in the near future.
