According to recent reporting, a new coffee shop is headed to a historic market in Delaware, located at 7775 Dublin Rd. Coastline Coffee is moving into one of the two commercial spaces available in the 1880’s building later this fall. The business is owned by mother and daughter Kym and Elizabeth Hampton who shared with What Now Columbus that currently they’re aiming to open Coastline Coffee by mid-November, but that’s dependent on the interior buildout process, which is currently underway.
The coffee shop will have seating for around 25, with decor described as a mid-century modern vibe. Co-owner Elizabeth Hampton says customers can expect to find a color scheme based on warm tones like dark orange and burnt yellow, and an overall cozy feel. The vintage atmosphere will have lots of couches and other pre-owned furniture, plenty of greenery and, a disco ball.
The full service coffee shop menu includes espresso drinks, drip coffee, teas, matcha, hot chocolate and Italian sodas. Guests can find a variety of baked goods prepared by two local bakers, The Underground Baker and The Flour Barn.
The mother and daughter said they’re also planning on adding a beer and wine selection, along with grab and go food items, such as sandwiches and selections from The Board Charcuterie, who is also a tenant in the building, as well as the landlord.
The duo found the space in May and have been working hard to get the business open. They decided to embark on the business venture together at the beginning of the year, since both have experience in the industry and a heart for serving the community as small business owners. One thing both Elizabeth and Kym want to do with their new business is be a part of the community and are planning to host events like open mic nights as well as paint and sip events.
“I have a background in coffee and food service but my passion is for people,” Elizabeth said.
Both Kym and Elizabeth lived in California before moving to central Ohio, and during that time, Kym worked in independent coffee shops for nearly a decade. According to her, the decision to open her own coffee shop is one that is, in some ways, years in the making.
“All my friends encouraged me to open my own coffee shop,” Kym said. “They all told me this is my niche.”
