According to recent reporting, Lion Cub’s Cookies will open another location at 7105 N High St, in Worthington. The second location is tentatively slated to open early 2024 and is being made possible through crowdfunding by devotees of the wildly popular cookies.
Just how popular are the cookies? According to a post on the cookie company’s Instagram account, the cookie shop raised $60,000 in just 15 minutes on the crowdfunding website Honeycomb, and raised an additional $40,000 within two hours in a separate campaign.
As detailed on its website, the cookie company got its start as a pop-up at local markets in December of 2019 and quickly gained a fan following, but like so many other food industry businesses, founder and CEO Bradley Kaplan had to pivot in the spring of 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. At that time, the team at Lion Cub’s Cookies shifted to a delivery model, taking orders via social media but quickly realized they needed a permanent space to work out of.
Lion Cub’s Cookies started a crowdfunding campaign to open its first brick and mortar and reached their fundraising goal in 30 hours. In June of 2021, the cookie shop opened at 1261 Grandview Ave in Grandview Heights.
No cookie company could neglect to include classic flavors on its menu, and even though Lion Cub’s Cookies’ offerings changes each week, customers can always find chocolate chip as well as cookies ‘n cream, which is a vanilla based cookie made with white chocolate chips and bits of crushed Oreos. Chocolate lovers can also count on finding a chocolate based cookie each week, along with other rotating flavors. Past selections have included a key lime pie cookie, a banana pudding cookie and red velvet white chocolate cookie.
