Last month, Columbus craft beer lovers learned from a post on Sideswipe Brewing’s Facebook page that the owner had plans to close at the end of July, but promised that an area home brewer would soon take over the business. Now, that home brewer, Jason Wing, has announced plans to open at the former home of Sideswipe Brewing at 2419 Scioto Harper Dr and is rebranding the business as Thunderwing Brewing.

According to recent reporting on the matter, Wing has been an avid homebrewer for a decade and the idea of opening his own brewery is something he’d considered for a while. Thunderwing Brewing will officially move into its new home on August 1, and is currently working toward a fall opening, according to information on its website.

The brewery will focus on four brews: a golden ale and fruited wheat along with American and Hazy IPAs, as well as seasonal beers and while the brewery won’t offer food, there are plans to host food trucks on site, according to the recent article.

What Now Columbus reached out to Wing for more information, but didn’t receive an immediate response.
