According to recent reporting, a new eatery will open inside Columbus Food Hall at 1282 Essex Ave. Joining eateries that serve Hawaiian bowls, sushi, Indian and Mediterranean cuisine, and much more, Yum Village will bring a selection of Afro-Caribbean fare to the food hall, with menu offerings that include hot bowls made with rice and proteins, salads and sandwiches.

A few of the menu offerings include a fried pollock sandwich served with housemade remoulade sauce on a pretzel bun, jerk style halal oxtail served with rice and truffle oil greens and jerk chicken with jollof rice, a West African rice that’s traditionally seasoned with tomatoes, onions and peppers.

In order to stay true to chef-owner Godwin Ihentuge’s African roots, Yum Village sources 15% of the ingredients used in its cuisine from Africa, Haiti and the Caribbean. According to the recent article, the current timeline for opening at the food hall is late January.
