A new restaurant from experienced Columbus chef Derek Bush now has an official name and concept, according to the Columbus Business First.
Medley Kitchen is set to open this fall in Hilliard’s TruePointe development, marking Bush’s first brick-and-mortar restaurant under his Culinary Collectives banner.
Bush first announced the project last summer, but has now revealed more details about the concept. The restaurant will focus on shared ingredients presented in multiple global styles, including tapas, dim sum and mezze, encouraging guests to mix and match dishes.
He told the publication that across different cultures, many of the same ingredients, cooking methods and traditions appear in different forms, and that this concept inspired the creation of Medley Kitchen.
The restaurant will also feature a bar program with cocktails, wine and beer, alongside a communal dining-focused space designed to encourage conversation. It will initially operate for dinner service only and is expected to employ more than 50 staff members.
Bush brings more than 20 years of hospitality experience, including nearly 13 years with Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, where he held roles including general manager of Lincoln Social and R&D chef for Cameron Mitchell Premier Events.
Medley Kitchen will join several other dining options at TruePointe, including Qahwah House, Drunch Eatery + Bar, Smoked Lick BBQ, Old Scratch Pizza and Teriyaki Madness.
