Dobbs Tire & Auto Centers is continuing its expansion across Central Ohio with the acquisition of two Bowman Tire & Repair Center locations, further growing the independent tire and automotive service chain’s footprint in the region, according to the Columbus Business Journal.
The acquisition includes Bowman Tire & Repair Center locations at 2830 E. Main St. near Bexley and 110 Burch St. in Hebron. Dobbs confirmed that all Bowman Tire retail employees will be retained as part of the acquisition.
“With the acquisition of the Bowman Tire & Repair Centers brand, Dobbs Tire & Auto Centers continues our expansion in the Columbus, Ohio market,” CEO Derek Basile said in a statement seen by the publication mentioned above.
Former Bowman Tire owner Jon Bowman said finding the right buyer was a priority for the business.
Bowman said choosing the right company to take over the business was an important priority, adding that he believes Dobbs Tire & Auto Centers aligns with the values and commitment his team has built over the years.
The acquisition follows Dobbs’ recent expansion efforts across Ohio, Missouri, Illinois and Wisconsin. With the addition of the two Bowman Tire locations, the company now operates 47 stores in Ohio, strengthening its presence throughout the state.
Founded in 1976, Dobbs Tire & Auto Centers has grown into one of the nation’s largest independent tire dealers, providing tire sales and automotive repair services for gas-powered, hybrid and electric vehicles. The company now operates more than 150 locations across eight states and employs more than 1,500 people.
The Bowman Tire acquisition marks another step in Dobbs’ ongoing growth strategy, which has included multiple acquisitions and new store openings in recent years as the company continues expanding its Midwest footprint.
