A new Botolino Gelato Artigianale shop is coming to Preston Park Shopping Center at 2201 Preston Road in Plano.

Construction on the interior remodel of the 1,400-square foot-space to convert the former coffee shop into a handcrafted gelato shop is set to begin in December, with a projected opening in spring 2025, according to permits filed with the state.

This new shop will be the brand’s new flagship, setting the standard for the future design and overall operations for any potential future stores. This will be the fourth location for the brand, which has three existing locations in Dallas.

Botolino Gelato is owned and operated by Carlo Gattini.

“My approach to making gelato is rooted in Italian traditions, prioritizing a respect for ingredients, simplicity, and time-tested methods,” Gattini said. “Living in Dallas has been a strong influence, however, and my style can best be described as ‘Italo Texano.’ The product I create is fused from my heritage, the influences of my life in Texas, and my heart.” In addition to gelato, the shops also offer bonbons and specialty chocolates made in house.

Botolino Gelato keeps 16 flavors on hand – eight standard flavors, and eight that adapt to seasonal ingredients. Some unique flavors they offer are Pistachio, Coconut Stracciatella, NY, Cheese Cake, Vegan Hazelnut, Matcha and Texas Pink Grapefruit. You won’t find these flavors through the glass, as Gattini prefers to preserve the flavors in the classic pozzetti (little wells). Be sure to check out what new flavors arrive with the grand opening in spring 2025.
