A longstanding South Weymouth steakhouse is getting a major makeover.
Stockholders Steakhouse, located at 1073 Main Street, has temporarily closed as owner Kevin Hynes prepares to completely transform the restaurant. Founder of Hynes Restaurant Group (HRG), Hynes recently regained ownership of the restaurant after selling the business to several of its employees.
Now back at the helm, Hynes plans to completely overhaul the restaurant while keeping the Stockholders name and its steak-and-seafood focus.
“We plan on gutting the whole restaurant, make it completely different,” Hynes told What Now Boston. “It’s still going to be a steakhouse—steak and seafood house—but when people walk in, they will not recognize the old Stockholders. It’s going to be the new Stockholders.”
Demolition is already underway, and the revamped Stockholders is currently expected to return in the spring of 2027.
Stockholders first opened under Hynes Restaurant Group in 2010. Before the recent ownership change, the restaurant was operated by Kevin’s son, Erik Hynes, alongside a group of employees and managers who took over the business in 2016.
Over the years, Stockholders became known for its upscale selection of steaks, chops, and seafood. The previous menu included dishes such as Roasted Prime Rib, Cowboy Ribeye, Smoky Bacon-Wrapped Scallops, and Lobster Mac & Cheese, though Hynes said the new menu will be completely different when the restaurant returns.
In a recent Facebook post announcing the ownership change, the team reflected on their seven years at the restaurant and thanked the community for its support.
“Seven years ago, we took over ownership of Stockholders and it has been such a privilege to serve Weymouth and the South Shore during that time,” they wrote. “From all of our incredible regulars and friends to entertaining new guests and of course all of the special occasions we have been honored to host, we want to acknowledge and thank all of you.”
Hynes also emphasized that existing Stockholders gift cards will never expire and can be used at HRG’s other four restaurants, including Precinct 10 in Weymouth, Bay Pointe Waterfront Restaurant in Quincy, 71° West Atlantic Steakhouse in Plymouth, and 42° North Restaurant in Plymouth.
Looking ahead, Hynes said the reimagined Stockholders will reflect the same standards that have defined his restaurant group over the years. “This is my twelfth restaurant, and people know Hynes Restaurant Group from what I’ve done,” he said. “I can guarantee [Stockholders] will be the same quality as it was in the past.”
