A fast-growing Pilates franchise is preparing to make its Massachusetts debut.

Pilates Addiction is opening a new studio in Suite 1 of Lyrik, the mixed-use development located at 400 Newbury Street in Boston’s Back Bay. Local franchisee Aundria Cummings confirmed the news with What Now Boston, noting that the studio is targeting a late 2026 opening, pending construction, inspections, and operational readiness.

Cummings brings more than 20 years of experience leading and growing consumer businesses to the venture, along with a personal passion for Pilates and wellness. She was particularly drawn to Pilates Addiction’s approach to the practice, which pairs the foundational principles of Pilates with the intensity of modern fitness, innovative equipment, and a strong sense of community.

“Boston is a city defined by energy, ambition, and a commitment to excellence, making it the perfect home for Pilates Addiction,” said Cummings in a statement. “We are bringing more than an exceptional Pilates experience to Back Bay; we are creating a destination where people can challenge themselves, connect with others, and experience the transformative power of movement. We believe this unique combination of innovation, community, and results-driven fitness will resonate deeply with Boston’s dynamic, wellness-minded community.”

Founded by CEO Sarah Luna, Pilates Addiction launched its first official national franchise studio in 2025 in West Hollywood, California. The brand has since grown to more than 30 locations nationwide, with nearly 50 additional studios in the pipeline. The Back Bay location will serve as its flagship in Boston and the first step in Cummings’ broader plans to expand across Greater Boston.

One of the studio’s biggest differentiators is its exclusive, patented gold Aurum™ Reformer. Described by Cummings as the “Swiss Army knife of reformers,” the multifunctional equipment combines a traditional reformer with a jump board, ballet barre, and Wunda Chair, allowing instructors to incorporate a wider variety of movements and transitions into each workout.

Classes will blend classical Pilates principles with contemporary strength, resistance, and conditioning techniques for low-impact, high-intensity workouts designed to build strength, flexibility, and balance. The studio will offer four signature formats: IGNITE, a 30-minute introduction to the equipment and teaching approach; CORE+, a 50-minute full-body workout; MAX, a more advanced 50-minute class focused on intensity and endurance; and MOBILITY RX, a 50-minute session centered on flexibility, stability, and functional movement.

Beyond the workouts, Cummings hopes to create a welcoming, community-driven space with a sophisticated, modern aesthetic, high-energy atmosphere, and instructors who make clients feel supported and empowered, whether they’re longtime Pilates enthusiasts or trying the practice for the first time.

The studio will offer a limited number of exclusive Founding Memberships, giving early supporters access to special introductory pricing. Those interested can register online for updates and early access to membership opportunities. Cummings is also working on community events, local business collaborations, and opportunities for prospective clients to preview the studio before opening day.

“We are incredibly excited to bring Pilates Addiction to the heart of Back Bay, particularly within a destination as dynamic and vibrant as Lyrik,” said Cummings. “We see a tremendous opportunity to become an integral part of the neighborhood’s daily rhythm, offering residents and professionals an exceptional Pilates experience that combines innovation, community, and a shared passion for health and wellness.”
