Katy residents, get ready to sink your teeth into one of Houston’s favorite burgers. Burger Bodega, the passion project of Abbas Dhanani, is opening its second Texas location in the neighborhood this year.

The concept, which aims to emulate the experience of a New York bodega, will be moving into a newly erected building at 21904 Franz Road. According to documentation filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, construction is set to begin on Burger Bodega’s new 3,000 square foot home on January 10 of this year. Work is slated to wrap on the $1,500,000 project by April 10 of 2025, suggesting Katy foodies could be savoring a delicious smash burger by late spring or early summer.

Burger Bodega is still a relative newcomer to the Texas dining scene. The concept, founded in 2021, began as a pop-up and now has a permanent home at 4520 Washington Avenue in Houston.

Burger Bodega keeps its menu relatively simple; the eatery offers two customizable sandwich options-the smash burger double and the chopped cheese. After selecting their base, guests can then choose from a variety of add-ons, including cheese sauce and Harlem aioli. The meal is completed with a choice of fries and washed down with a cold drink or shake.
