New construction and renovations will begin in December to convert a new space for Kauboi Japanese BBQ and Izakaya.

The restaurant is owned by first-time restaurateur Ryan Kim, who has worked in Japanese restaurants all over California. Kim was “impressed with all Texas had to offer and the welcoming environment” and decided to move the family to open his first restaurant in Plano.

The name is a play on the classic cowboy meat and BBQ options expected out of Texas while integrating Korean BBQ-style all-you-can-eat menus. The new Texan is looking forward to offering three all-you-can-eat menu options for sushi rolls, Japanese and Korean meat options. The restaurant will also offer Izakaya – an informal Japanese bar serving alcoholic drinks and snacks.

The overall design, website and social media accounts are in development; with construction beginning this winter, Kim anticipates a grand opening to the public in May 2025.
