After more than 20 years in Centennial, Bono’s Pit Bar-B-Q will close its doors this weekend. The Centennial location has long drawn locals for its smoked wings, BBQ cheese fries, and other Southern-style favorites.
Bono’s Pit Bar-B-Q to Serve Its Last Meal on November 1

Bono’s Pit Bar-B-Q announced the closure in a social media post. The restaurant didn’t share a reason for the sudden closure.
Serving the community since 2004, Bono’s thanked Denver diners for every shared brisket, rib, and smile over the years.
The beloved Southern BBQ spot invited guests to stop by between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. during its final week of service. Bono’s encouraged the Centennial community to come together for one last meal and celebrate its journey.
Thanking patrons, the Denver-based pit BBQ said “Thank you for 21 incredible years of support, laughter, and memories. We couldn’t have done it without you.”
A New Tenant To Take Over
In its farewell post, Bono’s shared that a new tenant will soon begin redeveloping the Centennial space. This new tenant will do so as the owners of the property/land at 9393 E. Dry Creek Road, Centennial.
Founded by Lou Bono, the beloved BBQ franchise built its reputation on authentic Southern pit barbecue. Joe Adeeb and his family later expanded the concept to about 20 locations across the U.S., including the Rocky Mountains and Florida.
At each location, including Centennial, Bono’s serves up a hearty menu of smoked meats, classic sides, and Southern staples. Some highlights are hand-cut fried squash, BBQ cheese fries, Bono’s smoked wings, beef brisket, and St. Louis Ribs.
The closure of Bono’s Pit Bar-B-Q marks the end of a longtime local favorite in Denver’s barbecue scene. Still, its smoky flavors and community spirit will be fondly remembered by Centennial locals.
