A staple in the Five Points community, Welton Street Cafe is making a move. According to an article at Denverite.com, the restaurant specializing in southern and Caribbean food plans to move about a block down the road from its current location of 22 years.

Fathima Dickerson co-owns the restaurant with several family members. Her parents, Flynn and Mona Dickerson moved from the Virgin Islands to Colorado in the 1970s and opened Welton Street Cafe in 1999. According to the Welton Street Cafe website, the restaurant “continues to be a soul food staple” in the community.

The Welton Street Cafe menu offers wings, burgers, sandwiches, jerk chicken, and fried catfish among other dishes.

A variety of filled pastries will curb a hungry guest’s appetite. Choices include broccoli and cheese or the seafood option with seasoned sautéed shrimp, crab meat, and cabbage. The menu offers tasty sides of red beans and rice, fried okra, and macaroni and cheese just to name a few.

They plan to start a crowdfunding campaign to help cover renovation costs at the new location, as well as volunteers to help with the move. They hope to move into and open the new location at 2883 Welton St. in Denver sometime in early 2022.
