Ground will break soon on a new Alamo Drafthouse cinema in Glendale’s planned Four Mile District development, according to a post this week from Developing Denver. The project is set to transform an area south of Cherry Creek into a vibrant 10-acre entertainment district that will be anchored by the movie theater.
The $150 million Four Mile District has been in the works for more than 10 years, and will also include retail spaces, restaurants, bars, hotel, and nightlife. It will feature a “common consumption area”, allowing visitors to enjoy drinks in the street, and venues will stay open until 4 a.m.
According to the Denver Post, construction began on the project over the summer. The venture is being funded by Central Street Capital, and contracting efforts are led by Weitz Co. The 40,000-square-foot Alamo Drafthouse is expected to open in late 2026 or early 2027.
Alamo Drafthouse is a well-known cinema chain that combines film screenings with a full-service dining experience. Founded in 1997 in Texas, the business has since expanded to dozens of locations in metro areas like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Kansas City, Raleigh, Omaha, and more.
