Arvada’s favorite dining and drinking destination, The Bluegrass Coffee and Bourbon Lounge, announced the permanent closure of its two locations. The Olde Town location will close by end of the month, followed by the Candelas location on November 1.

Two Bluegrass Coffee and Bourbon Lounge Locations Set to Close

Bluegrass provides a unique experience to the community with its coffee house concept by day and a lively bourbon lounge and diner by night. The restaurant serves Southern-inspired dishes along with coffee, pastries and other menu items.

The coffee house serves coffee made with house-roasted beans, along with pastries and breakfast items. In the evening, the space operates as a lounge with live music, drinks and a selection of whiskey. It also hosts events throughout the year, including Crawfish Boil, Pig Roast, Whiskey Wednesdays, S’mores and Whiskey Nights, and more.

In an Instagram post, the restaurant owners shared the heartbreaking news of the closure. The owners stated that The Bluegrass Coffee and Bourbon Lounge will be closing its doors permanently after 11 years of service.

The Bluegrass Coffee and Bourbon Lounge will close its Olde Town Arvada location on Grandview Ave on October 31 and its Candelas location on W 92nd Lane in November.

Reflecting on the restaurant’s journey, the owners wrote, “The Bluegrass became so much more than a restaurant. Our girls practically grew up there. Our employees became family, and our regulars became friends.”

The owners did not provide a specific reason for the closures but said, “Life and business have taken us in new directions, increasingly out of state, and as hard as it is, we know it’s time.”

About The Bluegrass Coffee and Bourbon Lounge

Founded in 2015, the restaurant is operated by Sheena Gordon and her husband Drew from Kentucky. With Bluegrass, the couple aimed to give the Arvada community the original Kentucky flavor and warm hospitality.

Located in the 130-year-old space of historic Olde Town Arvada, the flagship location of Bluegrass features a cozy seating area, Kentucky whiskey barrels, horse-themed artwork, and a spacious back patio.

In October 2020, the business opened a second location in Arvada’s Candelas neighborhood, offering an even larger selection of more than 250 whiskeys, along with beer, wine, cocktails, and food.

Over the decade of operation, the restaurant and lounge have become a local spot for people looking for food, drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere.

The owners also thanked customers and staff for their support ahead of the two locations’ closing dates.
