If you’ve ever tried a hot, glazed doughnut from Krispy Kreme, you may begin to crave the flavorful food from time to time. Colorado Springs residents will get the chance to savor those flavors sometime early next year as construction on the new Krispy Kreme Doughnuts moves forward.

Most businesses are encountering supply chain issues, but those circumstances have not hampered construction at the new Krispy Kreme location. WKS Krispy Kreme President Kurt Kuyper told What Now Denver they still plan to open sometime in February or March of 2022. “We’re never quite sure just because of the unusual circumstances we’re all living through right now, but that’s still the general target range.”

The new construction of the more than 3,500-square-foot space started back in September. This location will be the first Colorado Springs Krispy Kreme Doughnuts since one closed at The Citadel Mall about 15 years ago.

WKS Restaurant Group partnered with Krispy Kreme to develop the new location. They purchased the old Village Inn Restaurant and have demolished the former eatery to make way for the new Krispy Kreme. The new doughnut shop will feature indoor seating and a drive-thru.

Customers can try a variety of doughnut flavors including the original glazed, chocolate iced glazed, and multiple types of filled doughnuts and doughnut holes.

According to the Krispy Kreme website, Colorado features two other Krispy Kreme locations with one in Lone Tree and one in Thornton. The new doughnut shop is located 5790 S. Carefree Circle, Colorado Springs, CO 80917.
