Dry Dock Brewing Company, a staple in Colorado’s craft beer scene for two decades, has announced it will close its taproom in January. Westword reports the business’s new owners, Left Hand Brewing Company, are searching for a new location for it but haven’t found one yet.
The space and the one housing its neighboring sister business, The Brew Hu,t are up for sale. It will remain open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. through early January. Left Hand plans to open a new Dry Dock-themed brewpub offering beer and bites to eat somewhere in the metro by next year.
Earlier this year, we covered that Dry Dock merged with Left Hand under its Indian Peaks Brewing Company parent entity. Production was immediately moved to its Longmont facility, and at the time, it was hinted that there may be some changes involving the Aurora location.
Dry Dock Brewing Company was founded in 2005 and is one of Colorado’s most decorated breweries, earning 28 Great American Beer Festival medals and eight World Beer Cup awards. Left Hand Brewing, Colorado’s third-largest craft brewery, has been in the industry for more than three decades, winning 31 Great American Beer Festival medals, 11 World Beer Cup awards, and nine European Beer Star honors, a press release shared.
