A longtime Denver tamale shop is expanding with a new location at 4200 Jason Street, bringing its signature tamales to the Sunnyside neighborhood. According to the Denver Post, this will be Pochitos Tortilla Factory’s second location.
Owners Levi and Darian Luna told What Now Denver they have purchased the property and will begin renovations will begin next week. City records show that building plans received the green light in mid-December. The owners anticipate hiring 4-6 employees for the new spot.
“I grew up in this neighborhood and went to local schools here, Bryant Webster, Horace Mann, and North class of ‘90. I feel fortunate to have seen and experienced the change in my hood and do something that both me and my wife love doing: making tamales and tortillas for the Denver area. Our oldest son joined our team and he has also been of great help,” Darian told the publication.
Their new location will continue serving their popular tamale flavors, including pork with red chile, pork with green chile, and green chile with cheese. They also plan to introduce a few new offerings, such as chicken tamales and a sweet variety, they said.
