Gaku Ramen plans to reopen in a new spot in Boulder this summer. The restaurant will now be located at 1035 Pearl St., Ste. 102. Gaku Ramen was previously located in The Hill neighborhood near the University of Colorado Boulder.

Gaku Ramen was developed by three friends, Ryan Goldstein, Michael March, and David Stone, who wanted to bring ramen to college towns, according to the brand’s website. The Japanese character, which is often read as gaku, is translated into “education” or “study.”

According the Gaku Ramen website, “Gaku Ramen is for amazing towns and cities that draw on college and university students for their character, energy and vibrancy. Burlington and Boulder are emblematic of this ethos.”

Diners can start the meal with edamame, pork dumplings, or shishito peppers. A number of entrees are available including ramen dishes and rice bowls. A full bar features Japanese whiskey, beer, sake, wine, cocktails, and more.

The traditional Japanese ramen restaurant opened its first location in Vermont in 2016 and then expanded into Colorado in 2019. Gaku Ramen in Boulder closed during the Pandemic at the end of December 2020 and is tentatively scheduled to reopen in its new location sometime in June. Hiring is currently underway for a number of positions.
