The craft brew scene in Mead is heating up, with the town expecting Highlandlake Brewing Company to open. A new local brew pub, the business will welcome customers at 333 Main St Unit C, records show.

Founded by Daniel Akin, Highlandlake Brewing Company aims to create a welcoming environment for beer enthusiasts and families alike. The brewpub will feature a diverse selection of beers on tap, including IPAs, Stouts, Barrel-aged brews, and sours, catering to a wide range of tastes.

Construction on the property is nearing completion. The business will be dog-friendly, have an outdoor patio, and will host food trucks on-site to accompany their brews.

The journey to opening hasn’t been without its challenges, with initial plans dating back to 2019 and delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the company was finally approved for a liquor license at a public hearing on June 24.

The company did not return a request for comment in time for publication.
