A new all-day café is on the way to Vail, led by longtime mountain restaurateurs Vidette and Mike Gehl. The couple is expanding their local footprint with the Little Bear Café, opening inside The Alpinist workspace building at 211 Eagle Rd, its website advertises.
The space will offer café seating inside the building, casual lobby seating, and tables outside as well. Planned offerings include breakfast staples, hearty lunch items, salads, soups, baked goods, small bites, specialty coffee and tea drinks, and a lineup of beer, wine, and mixed drinks.
Job postings show the business has started the hiring process recently, with positions open for roles including cook, sandwich artisan, barista, and cashier. The listing advertises that the planned hours of operation for Little Bear Café will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week.
The new concept complements the Gehls’ long-established Big Bear Bistro, located near Gondola One in Vail Village. That venue is known for its breakfast burritos, gourmet sandwiches and wraps, sweet and savory crêpes, specialty coffees, and après snacks and drinks.
