Fifteen years after launching Denver’s first taproom-only brewery, Strange Craft Beer Co. is expanding to the high country. According to the Denver Post, the company is preparing to open a second location in Buena Vista at 324 E. Main St.
Founder Tim Myers purchased the 4,500-square-foot lot in November for $585,000. He is planning to operate from a custom-built, 20-foot trailer serving Strange Craft’s signature small-batch beers on a lively patio space with two food trucks run by Brandon Renner, owner of The Olive.
Buildout for the project is estimated to be around $150,000. While Myers initially targeted and April opening, he has faced delays and now hopes to welcome thirsty patrons by mid-summer. He plans to participate in Salida’s Brewers Rendezvous festival in July.
Strange Craft began in 2010 as Denver’s first taproom brewery, at a time pre-industry boom when only nine breweries existed in the city, according to a post Myers made. The brewery has won numerous accolades over the years, including a 2023 World Beer Cup silver medal and a 2014 gold medal. Its production will continue to take place at its Denver facility at 1330 Zuni St., where it produces around 300 barrels annually.
