Doug’s Diner’s Greeley restaurant, at 801 9th St., is reopening after having to close temporarily amidst a legal battle. According to The Coloradoan, this restaurant and the one in Fort Collins will once again operate under its original ownership team.

Prior owners Rick Bruening and Ermalinda Hernandez had sold ownership of the joints last year to separate franchisees, but they ended up in litigation with both parties. While that outcome of the court battle is still ongoing, it was announced that Bruening and Hernandez would reopen the diners.

“We are delighted to announce the reopening of Doug’s Diner Greeley,” the company posted on social media. “Our original menu and pricing will be reinstated, and we welcome large parties. To ensure that everyone can be seated, we have increased our table and seating capacity.”

The team also shared that they have applied for a liquor license for the location and expect to be granted one early next year. A new manager has also been hired to help with all the changes.

Bruening and Hernandez have more than 80 combined years of restaurant leadership experience in addition to the time with the Doug’s chain. Both spent decades at Taco Bell; Bruening also worked for McDonald’s and was a Colorado Air National Guard firefighter.
