A new patio has been planned for a Denver Mexican restaurant for months, and now the summer could be the completion date. The idea to add outdoor seating at Araujo’s Restaurant at 2900 West 26th Ave. began during the COVID pandemic.
Araujo’s Restaurant Manager Eva Araujo told What Now Denver they could not add seating outside the front of the restaurant when COVID restrictions were put in place because it was too close to the street and was not safe.
They decided to move forward with plans to convert the backyard into an outdoor patio, but construction has been delayed. “It’s been a very long process because of COVID,” Araujo said. Araujo’s Restaurant is now involved in the permitting process.
The outdoor patio will include six to eight tables in a shaded area. “We’re really excited. Once it’s done, it’s going to look very nice. We’re going to make it as comfy and cozy as possible,” Araujo said. “It’s going to be a nice area.”
Araujo’s Restaurant has happy hour specials including margaritas and beer, and the menu includes authentic Mexican food. Offerings include breakfast tacos, enchiladas, tacos, quesadillas, and more.
