Downtown Colorado Springs will soon welcome a new Western-themed cocktail lounge, called Counterfeit Cowboy, at 28 S. Tejon St. Side Dish Schniper reported that it’s the latest venture from local restaurateur and entrepreneur Stephon Black.

The concept is taking over the space that formerly housed Slayton’s Barbeque and Urban Egg. Black told What Now Denver the location is roughly 2,000 square feet, and they are waiting on liquor licensing to start setting things up there. The application for that is currently listed as “ready for review”, city records show.

Counterfeit Cowboy will have beverages for everyone, from classics like PBR and Montucky Cold Snacks to high-end spirits and an upscale cocktail list. The business will be open 4 PM – 1 PM from Sunday to Thursday and 3PM – 2AM on Fridays and Saturdays.

Other F&B businesses that Black owns include Samich Shack, Lazy Susan’s Cocktail Lounge, and Bloom Ultra Lounge. He is working on a 250-person event center concept neighboring Lazy Susan’s as well.

Beyond restaurants, Black maintains a broad entrepreneurial portfolio, including work in real estate, a greenhouse irrigation company, and a yak ranch in Lake George. The ranch is part of the inspiration behind Counterfeit Cowboy.
