A pizza restaurant that has been around for 70 years is coming to Harper Avenue early next year.

Green Lantern Pizza has a new restaurant listed on their website, 30201 Harper Avenue in St. Clair Shores. It is listed as a carryout and delivery location. Co-owner John Spreitzer told What Now Detroit he and his team were originally hoping to open this month, but they want to wait until sometime around Jan. 3-6.

There are currently 16 Green Lantern Pizza locations all around Detroit, and the company recently expanded to Berkley and Rochester Hills. The company was founded by Thomas and Irene Vettraino who created the pizza company out of a farmhouse. Years later, it is thriving with owners John and his brother TJ.

The pies served are build-your-own, with sizes ranging from 10-16 inches. Specialty pizzas are also on the menu, like Hawaiian with ham and pineapple, and the BLT Pizza with bacon, crisp lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise. The options are expected to be the same at the St. Clair Shores location.

The new pizza spot will be on the west side of Harper Avenue, across the street from Parlor Doughnuts and Jimmy’s Coney Grill. John said they had purchased the building a while back, but now they are finally getting ready to open. The location is on the north side of St. Clair Shores.

More information on the grand opening will be released in the near future. For more on Green Lantern Pizza, visit their Facebook page.
