A store known for classic board and card games is planning a bigger space to enjoy their products.
The team at Game & Company has plans for a larger store in the Walled Lake area at 1885 N Pontiac Trail. While debuting the new spot, they plan on keeping their flagship location at 239 E Walled Lake Drive open for the community.Co-owner James Dean told What Now Detroit he plans on opening the new store sometime in the fall.
“We’re keeping our current downtown location too, and we’ll be turning it into a toy store filled with fun gifts, toys, mystery boxes, LEGO, slime, squishys, stuff for the beach and more!” Says a recent post from the owners.
Game & Company was started by James and Alyssa Dean two years ago as a destination for board games, trading cards and other game memorabilia. Board games include light strategy like Catan, party games, classics like Candy Land and Battleship. The card games that are sold and traded are Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, One Piece, Lorcana and more.
For the new location, James said private rooms are being built for D&D games and other events. Their new streaming room concept will be able to fit around 200 people for live games. A “pack bar” will also be in the front so that those looking at gaming cards have a space to view the items.
The new game store is opening on N Pontiac Trail, east of downtown. This is close to the intersection of Decker Road, where Mary Helen Guest Elementary School is located. This area is mostly residential, but is near the Commerce Plaza shopping center.
As it gets closer to the opening date, Game & Company will be releasing more updates on the opening date on their Facebook page.
