Herand’s Kitchen in Houston Heights has closed after two years. Chef Herand Tahmasian operated the restaurant, which served bold flavors of our Persian-Mediterranean fusion menu. The restaurant offered counter service and an open kitchen.
Herand’s Kitchen Bids Farewell to Houston
On September 22, Herand’s Kitchen announced its closure on social media. They posted, “Over the past two years, what began as Herand’s passion for sharing his Armenian, Persian and Mediterranean flavors grew into something truly special. ”
The team explained, “After much thought, Herand has decided that the time is right to step away from the restaurant and begin a new chapter.”
The team also referenced the awards and recognition the restaurant received during its two years in Houston. The team also thanked the community and said, “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for dining with us, recommending us, sharing our posts and supporting our family business.”
The restaurant did not disclose a reason for closing.
About the Restaurant
Herand’s Kitchen was founded in California in 2021. The restaurant quickly gained popularity and became one of the highest rated restaurants in Glendale, California.
In 2024, the restaurant relocated to Houston on 2601 Baylor Street. According to the Chron report, the chef-owner of the restaurant decided to move because he wanted to be closer to his son and grandchildren in Houston.
From the inception of the restaurant, the chef continued to serve the community with the same flavors of Persian and Mediterranean dishes that he grew up with. The restaurant built a strong following in the Houston community, with its relaxed dinner paired with a glass of wine or beer.
The menu was focused on Persian and Mediterranean fusion cuisine, and included classic items like kabobs, Greek salad, hummus, and more.
While Herand’s Kitchen only served the community for two years, it created a notable mark on the Houston dining community.
