Buren Bakery is set to open a second location in Old Town Spring. The Puerto Rican bakery is preparing to open a second location in the same shopping center where it started, according to Community Impact. The new location, featuring a larger indoor dining space, is expected to open at 419 Gentry Street, Suite 204.
What Now Houston reached out to Buren Bakery owner Alexandra Astacio to learn more about the exciting expansion. Unfortunately, we did not hear back by the time of this publication.
“The Buren family is growing, and we’re so grateful to share this moment with you,” a post on the Buren Bakery Facebook page reads.
“Soon, our Puerto Rican bakery will have two locations in Old Town Spring our original home and a new space to welcome you. Thank you for bringing your families, making us part of your weekends, and giving us so much to look forward to.”
Puerto Rican native Astacio founded Buren Bakery in June 2024 in Old Town Spring to celebrate Puerto Rican heritage and traditional Caribbean baking. The business started under a small tent near a gas station, selling homemade bread baked in a home kitchen. The bakery expanded to local farmers’ markets, selling loaves one table at a time and packing orders into a small car with trays stacked to the ceiling. In June 2024, Astacio opened the brand’s first permanent storefront in the heart of Old Town Spring, offering handmade artisan goods and coffee imported straight from Puerto Rico.
“Old Town Spring has become such a special part of our story,” a post on the brand’s Facebook page reads.
“We’re grateful to keep growing in a place that means so much to us.”
The bakery is known for traditional items like Pan Sobao, a traditional sweet Caribbean white bread, and authentic Puerto Rican pastries. Buren Bakery is not only working on a second Texas location, but also on opening a location in Puerto Rico.
Try out the new Buren Bakery when it opens in Old Town Spring at 419 Gentry Street, Suite 204, later this year or early next year.
