Terry Black’s Barbecue is about to open its first restaurant in Houston. The restaurant will be located at 1329 N. Shepherd Drive in the Heights.
Terry Black’s Barbecue Arrives in the Heights
Terry Black’s Barbecue’s new restaurant will open on August 18. Guests can expect Texas-style barbecue dishes at the restaurant. The menu will feature brisket, dino beef ribs, pork ribs, sausage, smoked turkey, and chopped beef.
Mac and cheese, green beans, cream corn, pinto beans, potato salad, coleslaw, Mexican rice, cornbread muffins, and more will be served as sides. Dessert options will include mini pecan pies, peach cobbler, and banana pudding
According to a report by Houston Press, the restaurant is designed with both indoor and outdoor dining areas. The Houston location will also feature an elevated loft that will provide a semi-private space for events.
Six 1,000-gallon offset smokers fueled by post oak will be used for the restaurant’s barbecue operation, giving guests a view of the smoking process. Pitmasters will also lead tours explaining the restaurant’s smoking process.

About Terry Black’s Barbecue
Terry Black’s Barbecue was founded in 2014 by siblings Christina, Michael, and Mark Black. It is named after their father, Terry Black. The family’s connection to barbecue goes back generations, as the family had a barbecue business in Lockhart.
The first Terry Black’s location opened on Barton Springs Road in Austin. Since then, the brand has expanded in other parts of Texas, including Dallas, Lockhart, Waco and Fort Worth. Black Family Hospitality has also expanded into other restaurant and hospitality concepts.
The Houston opening represents another step in that expansion, bringing the family’s barbecue operation to the Heights.
