A new coffee concept is percolating, set to transform the local café scene. La Tazza, the brainchild of a dynamic co-owner quintet comprising Mikkel, Eric, Santiago, and Joussef along with Felipe Paz, an operating partner with a vibrant passion for coffee, are preparing to open its doors at 8427 Stella Link Rd. From the beginning, the vision for La Tazza was clear: to create a space where coffee is not just a drink but a medium for building community and connections.
Felipe Paz, moving from Colombia to the US and finding his footing in Houston’s coffee culture, quickly realized that coffee was more than a profession—it was his calling. After working in a local coffee shop and meeting Joussef, he was offered an opportunity that was too good to pass up: to be at the forefront of a coffee shop venture that promises to bring a fresh perspective to the industry. “Coffee is my life. It’s what I do,” Paz told What Now Houston, underscoring his dedication and passion for this new journey. Alongside Santiago, Paz will lead the day-to-day operations, focusing on creating a warm, welcoming space that reflects the neighborhood’s character and fosters relationships with each visitor.
La Tazza’s location, previously a retail shop, is being transformed into a cozy yet vibrant café with an inviting outdoor area, designed to be a neighborhood haven for coffee lovers and community members alike. The owners are committed to contributing to the evolution of coffee culture, offering not just a place to grab a quick cup but a destination where patrons can experience the nuances of coffee in a personal and intimate setting.
Despite their website and Facebook page still being in the works, interested future patrons can follow their journey on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/latazzasc.
With plans for a soft opening by the end of April 2024 and full operational status by mid-May at the latest, La Tazza is gearing up to be a community hub where every cup of coffee is a step towards a more connected faction.
